Need some extra cash? Looking for a job change? Whether you need full-time or part-time income, here are 8 ideas to get your creative juices flowing.

Specialized Party Planner:
There are wedding planners … and there are party planners. People these days just don’t have enough time — or energy — to plan the kind of party they would like to have. If you are good with organization and have a knack for planning and getting along with people, then this is a perfect idea for you. Specialize in just one type of party, carving out a good niche market for you.

Love to Talk?
Does your phone come permanently attached to your hand? Do you project a friendly, capable “voice” across the phone lines, no matter what the situation? Then consider becoming an off-site phone operator. If you enjoy talking on the phone all day long, this is the dream job for you.

Help Them Write Correctly:
There are many intelligent people in college and graduate schools, but not all of them know how to write properly. Writing essays, reports, even a thesis is a real struggle. They have the ideas; they just have problems putting them on paper. If you find writing correctly a breeze, then offer your services to help them hone their writing skills. Your service can include help with grammar, sentence structure, spelling, punctuation — anything writing related.

Have Greeting Cards, Will Send via Mail:
Keeping in touch with relatives and friends via US mail can be time consuming and a hassle for some folks. Never enough time, no greeting cards handy, who knows where the stamps are, and making the trip to the post office is a pain. This is where you come in. Offer a service where you take your customer’s list of friends and relatives along with birthdays, anniversaries, any other special days and send the cards for them. You can include get-well cards, thinking of you cards, sympathy cards. They simply drop you an email and you drop the card in the mail for them. Decide a head of time if you bill by the card, by the month, or by the year. This idea is becoming very popular with folks with no time.

Trinkets from Your Home Town:
If you live near a popular tourist location or a popular large city, folks from all over the world are interested in memorabilia from these places. Whether they have been there or they dream of visiting one day, people love to collect items from these spots. Start an online business (or sell on auction sites) that sells things specific to your town, city, county, state or country.

Women and Cars:
If you know cars and enjoy sharing this information, then consider holding classes to help women who didn’t take auto shop in high school. Teach your students the fundamental basics of automobiles and engine functions. Give them an understanding of what those rumblings under the hood mean; help them read a car manual; maybe teach them how to change the oil or at least how to change a flat tire. Now that I think about it, there are a lot of men who could use this type of class too.

Coffee Time:
Deliver coffee and snacks to offices that have no easy access to coffee shops. Set up route around the city, scheduling deliveries to specific floors or businesses on various floors of large office buildings. Be specific — and consistent — on the time of your delivery so folks know when to expect you. Offer coffee, sodas, flavored bottle water, maybe homemade snacks, muffins, nutritional goodies. This could work for both morning and afternoon breaks.

Concierge Services for the Elderly:
Do you enjoy doing things for older folks? How about a service that helps them with everyday tasks, such as scouring out the tub and decluttering the closets to paying the bills, balancing the checkbook. How about laundry service, folding and hanging up the clothes? Or you could simply provide a home cooked meal that wasn’t microwaved out of a box. This would help relieve some of the stress of old age and provide a comfort for people who can’t do such things as easily as they use to. Offer your services not only to the elderly, but also their relatives, giving them some peace of mind that their loved ones are being looked after when they’re not available. Charge an hourly rate for this service.
