Seeking H.S. Graduation gift ideas for Grandson who will be attending Army AIT this summer?

Grandson will graduate from high school June 07. Enlisted in Army under Delayed Entry Program, already finished Basic – PFC. Will take Advanced Individual Training this summer – Infantry – then he’s in full time. Need Graduation gift ideas, figured who better to ask than those who have been there! Thanks for any help you can give.
My son did the same and the only thing he ever wanted when I asked what he needed was letters and $$$$. And he didn’t need the $$$as much as the letters. May your grandson be kept from injury or harm.
Give him an AAFES gift card, from http://www.aafes.com, then he can go to the px and pick up supplies that he’ll need for AIT.
Well, 10 years ago before cell phones were real popular, I enjoyed getting phone cards. These can be used from any phone. I’m not sure how the Army is with kids while they are in AIT, so phone cards may be of some use to him.
The gift card from AAFES is a good is a as well, then he can get something he likes or something he really needs (like shoe polish)
Check out Suunto digital watches. They have electronic compasses/GPS’s. Truly an infantryman’s watch. Also just about eveything on TacticalTailor.com would be of use to him. But he won’t be able to use it in AIT. There is very little that you could give him for graduation that he could take to AIT. But once he gets to his unit he will find all sorts of needs that he army doesn’t fill. The army gives you everything you need to accomplish your mission. If you want to be comfortable while accomplishing your mission you will have to pay for it out of your own pocket lol.
