Is it proper or rude to send out college graduation announcements if you are not planning on having a party?

I’m graduating with a bachlors degree and i dont want to have a graduation party, so i was wondering, do i still send out announcements? I would like to let some people know that i am graduating.

My grandmother prides herself on her intelligence. Given, Im not the smartest cookie, but I wouldnt assume it would matter to my Grandmother.
I would like to know if this is something Im expected to ignore, or if I should bother saying something to her?
