How soon before a party do you send out invitations?

My graduation party is late summer, and I made and ordered my own invites. They should be here by tomorrow or Tuesday but I still think that’s a bit soon… How soon before my party should I mail them?
Well I mean, it’s very late… Technically maybe early fall?
My boyfriend will soon be graduating from USMC boot camp, what would be some good graduation gift ideas?
